Spring Cleaning Your Insurance Policy

I’ve been waiting a long winter to say this, blog reader. This Sunday is the first day of spring! Now is about the time that people start their spring cleaning for the season. Here at Stolly Insurance we want to make sure that not only are you cleaning out those closets, but you are also making sure that you are ready for spring insurance-wise too.

If you have a car that you put away for the winter, make sure you call your Stolly agent to put insurance back on it, as well as putting insurance on your “summer toys” such as a boat or ATV. It is also a great time to simply read over your policy to make sure that everything you have covered is necessary or if anything may need  extra coverage. If you have an older car, maybe 10 years or older, you may not want to spend as much on insuring it as you may have in the past. Consider dropping your comprehensive coverage or taking it down to liability if you don’t drive it as often as your new car.

While spring cleaning the inside of your house, make sure you look for any signs of water damage that may have occurred because of the snow or ice. Our friends over at Swartz Contracting and Emergency Services gives this advice: “Watch for these signs of structural damage:

  • Cracks on indoor walls
  • Interior doors sticking, rubbing, or not closing right
  • Ceiling warping
  • Unusual structural creakingMake sure that you are also checking the outside of your home as well. You don’t want to be caught with those spring showers raining in your house because of something you didn’t catch on your roof. Cleaning your gutters out of any thing that may be stuck will also help you be prepared for the heavy spring rain.Call you Stolly Insurance Agent today to make sure that your home is ready for a great Spring!
