Getting Locked up for Muscular Dystrophy Fundraiser

Bringing awareness to the Muscular Dystrophy Association

While most people would see going behind bars for a day as a bad thing, we are very proud of Stolly’s own Marsha Voress for making a commitment to bring awareness to a disease called Muscular Dystrophy. Recently our Westerville office manager Marsha Voress took time out of her day to go behind bars “For Good.” She then asked for her “bail” to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The MDA works to save and improve the lives of people fighting muscle disease by providing support and funding ground-breaking research. MDA also provides important services such as support groups, equipment repair and MDA Summer Camp.

MDA Summer Camp is a life-changing experience for campers and counselors that provide one of the best weeks of the year for over 3,800 children with this disease. Because of the charitable donation from fundraisers like Marsha kids are able to horseback ride, swim, and enjoy other such activities free of charge. When they are here they can rest assured knowing that their child is in the hands of professionals who are there to ensure their children are safe while having the time of their lives.

The MDA has a lot of ways to get involved including being “locked up” like Marsha, joining Team Momentum, or participating in a Muscle Walk.

Team Momentum “empowers individuals of all athletic abilities to train for a half or full marathon while supporting kids and adults with muscular dystrophy  and related life threatening diseases.” ( You can join any run or walk like the Boston Marathon or the New York half marathon; its guaranteed that a team from the MDA will be a part. You can also join your local Muscle Walk to support families in your community that have children and other loved ones with muscular dystrophy.
